Elizabeth has been involved in homeopathy since 1990. She began her homeopathy training at the Northern College of Homeopathic Medicine then moved to London College of Classical Homeopathy (Edinburgh). She has an honours degree in Social Research and is a registered member of The Society of Homeopaths. Elizabeth specialises in fertility in addition to her general practice. Her aim is for homeopathy to be accessible to the public through talks, group workshops and one-to-one sessions. When not working, Elizabeth can be found browsing art galleries and going long walks with her family and their mischievous West Highland puppy.

Gillean completed her three year Shiatsu Practitioner Training in 2007. Since then she has been working as a fully qualified therapist in Edinburgh. Gillean was attracted to Shiatsu as it provided hands on therapy, which utilises the healing benefits of touch in a holistic manner where the physical, emotional and psychological aspects of well-being are seen as interlinked. Gillean has worked in the past for Headway, treating adults with Traumatic Head Injury, where she developed an interest and skills in Barefoot Shiatsu, which is especially useful for those who enjoy deeper pressure Shiatsu. Gillean also has many years experience working as an Occupational Therapist within the NHS.
Linda qualified in Life Counselling from the College of Holistic Medicine in Glasgow in 1994, then trained with the Gestalt Trust, obtaining a Diploma in Gestalt Therapy in 1996. She has worked for many years as a counsellor in private practice and for the NHS and has run a number of therapeutic groups for women. She also works in the field of Mental Health in general and has an interest in complementary therapies. She is a member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy. She enjoys helping as a volunteer in a local literacy scheme for young children, sings in a community choir and is interested in local history.
Katie first qualified in Swedish massage in 2004 with an ITEC diploma. She then went on to graduate with a BSC degree in Complementary Therapies (Aromatherapy) from Napier University, and has also completed a course in Hot Stone Massage. She has gained invaluable experience working as a massage therapist since 2004 at various clinics in Edinburgh. She has a long standing interest in the field of healing and enjoys going to the gym and socialising.
Mary trained in Reverse Therapy with Dr John Eaton in London, after seeing the benefits for a family member with M.E., and achieved accreditation in 2006. For many years she has been a clinical pharmacist in the NHS and currently works within a mental health team. Mary is fascinated by the healing effect of attentively listening to our natural body wisdom. She enjoys country walks, singing in the church choir and family activities.
Barbara has three years’ experience as a qualified herbalist in Edinburgh. She also spent many years working as a Health Promotion Specialist for Health Education Board Scotland and NHS Borders: also as a counsellor for CRUSE Bereavement Care and a volunteer with a group in Wester Hailes helping people come off sleeping pills and tranquillisers. Barbara is one of the three partners in Hawthorn Health Clinic. Outside work Barbara enjoys spending time in the Highlands and being a grandmother.
Originally from New York City, Joseph moved to Scotland in 2006 to begin his four-year BSc in Herbal Medicine. He earned his qualification in Holistic Massage in 2007 from the Scottish School of Herbal Medicine, where he is currently studying Clinical Aromatherapy. He has experience with sensitive issues and tailors his therapies to the client's individual needs. Joseph uses organic, cold pressed, and unrefined oils in his massage whenever possible, avoiding the pesticides and solvents often found in conventional oils. When not massaging, Joseph enjoys hill walking, practising Shaolin, and cooking.
Hanka received her massage diploma in 2002 from the Edinburgh Therapy Academy, since then she has studied to understand pain and how to relieve it. She qualified in Jing advanced massage training and learned how to help people with back pain, neck pain, frozen shoulder and sciatica. Hanka is also interested in alternative medicine, enjoys yoga, walking and nature.
Barbara has a diploma in nursing elderly people and a wealth of nursing experience, including a number of years working with people with neurological problems. She has a particular interest in using essential oils and massage therapeutically to manage stress and anxiety, chronic pain and facial skin conditions. Using a combination of soft-tissue massage techniques, a blend of suitable essential and carrier oils, and sometimes heat or cold compresses, each treatment is tailored to the needs of the individual.
Kathryn has certificates in CST I, CST II, and SER1 in CranioSacral Therapy from the Upledger Institute UK, and is a qualified Medical Herbalist. She has been practising in Edinburgh for three years. She believes the two therapies truly complement each other, and work well with other therapies. Kathryn worked as a scientist for 22 years, before training as a Medical Herbalist, and found the knowledge gained useful in the training and practice of both therapies. Kathryn is one of the three partners in Hawthorn Health Clinic and enjoys helping to achieve the clinic’s aim of providing a complementary health service to the community. Outside work, Kathryn’s interests include reading, growing herbs, receiving various therapies, and spending time with her family and friends.
